CrossPoint Church is an evangelical, charismatic church committed to living out the supremacy of Christ in an atmosphere of grace, truth, and reality.

While CrossPoint is a new congregation in Crown Point, we're not really brand new. We are an extension congregation of Living Word Church, in Lansing, Illinois. Living Word has a twenty-five year history in the Lansing/South Holland area, and we'll be maintaining an ongoing cooperation together as sister churches.

We can be described as both evangelical, in our commitment to the centrality of Scripture, and charismatic, in our emphasis on the present-day dynamic of the Holy Spirit. At the center of our faith is the Gospel of Jesus Christ—no lesser person, doctrine, or thing deserves our highest passion. We affirm the historic, ecumenical Christian creeds, and hold to an essentially Reformed theology while seeking Biblical charismatic practice.

CrossPoint is not part of a denomination, but neither are we independent. We're part of a family of churches working together called LifeLink International. Together we share a passion for Jesus, a devotion to the Kingdom of God, and a compassion for the world.

CHURCH LEADERSHIP

We are committed to the principles of humility, plurality, and teamwork in our leadership. CrossPoint Church shares its council of elders with Living Word Church in Lansing, IL.

John Leitzel serves as an elder and the lead pastor for CrossPoint. John completed a Ph.D.in synthetic bio-organic chemistry at the University of Chicago in 1996, and was a tenured chemistry professor at Chicago State University prior to joining the full-time pastoral staff at Living Word in 2001. John & Karen live in Crown Point with their daughters Elizabeth and Sarah. Karen practices medicine as a family physician in Crown Point.
